MOST EXCELLENT Japanese Restaurants in Jakarta

In four decades of running a blog, this evaluation about the best Western cusine establishments in Jakarta was probably the challenging I ever had written. I desired to provide the most precise details as possible, so I did a lot of analysis, some trips, many phone calls, and invested per weeks time on it. I wish you can help me with your feedback if you discover any mistakes (wrong contact variety, eating position shut, etc...). It would be fantastic if you can discuss your best locations as well.

Almost all the fantastic Western cusine establishments in Jakarta are right here (as of Nov 2011), by alphabetical purchase. I will also publish individual opinions about the best shabu-shabu, best sushis, most costly cusine establishments, best all-you-can-eat, etc... Here are all the Western cusine establishments you should know about in Jakarta:

Ajihara (Jalan Melawai "Little Tokyo", Blok M ; Tel: +62-21 7201340): Genuine izakaya, well-known with expats, with a karaoke above. Big sections, do not think twice to discuss. Suggested dishes: Sashimi, teuchi soba (buckwheat noodles), soba sushi. Around Rp150-200k per individual for a food with alcohol.

Ajisen Ramen: String initially from Japan, with offices all over Jakarta and Japan (more than 200). Inexpensive, well-marketed, but frustrating flavor.

Akane (Crowne Plaza, Gatot Subroto ; Tel: +62-21 522 0735): Modern Izakaya, consistently detailed as one of the best Western cusine establishments in Jakarta. Tokyo-style, innovative meals, yet unassuming and not too costly. Same operator (Ueda-San) as Boci-Boci, Konoha, Tsukinofune, Sumiya. Suggested dishes: Sushi, yakitori, bento containers...

Aoki (Gran Mahakam Resort, Blok M ; Tel: +62-21 7209 966): Respected all-you-can-eat meals shabu-shabu with quality 9 wagyu meat (Rp159++).

Asuka (Marriott Resort, Super Kuningan ; +62-21 5798 8898): Modern internal, with stringently authentic Western meals.Headed by a Western Cooking. The omakaze will price you above Rp1,5 thousand per individual. Less expensive, you can try their meals on Saturday Buffet for Rp300k without liquids. Identified as Jakarta's Best Western eating position a few periods.

Aya eating position (Jalan Mahakam 11A ; Tel: +62-21 7279 5184): Genuine eating position, omakase for Rp1 thousand or more. Western chef.

Basara (Summitmas Structure, Jalan Sudirman ; Tel: +62-21 520 1233) Old, but overlooked eating position, well-known with Western expats and professionals. About Rp200,000 per go, rather old, - well-known with japoneses expats and businessman

Blowfish (Same developing as the eponymous night group, Gatot Subroto ; Tel: +62-21 5297 1212): Trendy place, with costs greater than regular. Creative combination sushi.

Boci Boci (Ambai Building, GF, Jl. Melawai 8 No. 4 ; Tel: 7279 8463) : Great Izakaya in Blok M, fantastic Western bistro-style meals, cost-effective. Suggested dishes: Ramen, Yakitori. Well-liked by Western expats.

Bushido (Grand Sahid Jaya Resort, Jalan Sudirman ; Tel: +62-21 570 4444): Set food or à la mappemonde. Affordable but needs to be enhanced both in flavor and environment.

Caza Suki (Mahakam ; Tel: +62-21 724 6375): Well-known for its cost-effective, all you can eat meals (Rp110,000++). 2 kinds: Shabu-shabu and Bar-b-que. Affordable, well-known with Indonesians. Also in Kebon Sirih, 200 measures before Jalan Jaksa, since 2008 (Tel: +62-21 344-7912)

Ebeya Meat Home (Ritz-Carlton Hawaiian Place ; Tel: +62-21 5797 3661): Modern Western meals. Probably one of the most costly cusine establishments in Jakarta: 2,5 thousand per individual for teppanyaki. A la mappemonde, anticipate to pay Rp400,000 for food, and Rp800,000 for evening food eliminating liquids. More than just fantastic food: Great assistance, environment, appearance and display of the recipes. Note: It used to be near Mid-Plaza, in the Plaza Homes but it has modified place since 2010.

Edogin (Hotel Mulia ; Tel: +62-21 574 7777 ext 4719,4720): Suitable for Teppanyaki. Also, rather fantastic value-for-money all u can eat: For food between Rp109,000++ and Rp189,000++, and for evening food between Rp189,000++ and Rp200,000.

En Dining (Plaza Philippines EX ; Tel:+62 21 3199 0203, and Amazingly Lagoon, SenCi Tel: +6221 7278 1603) - Fashionable, shiny locations, more costly than regular (Rp150,000-200,000 à la carte). Focusing on Okinawa meals (Chinese-influenced Western food)

Esina (Plaza Senayan ; Tel: +62-21 5785 2767): Enhanced Yakiniku/Japanese BBQ. Excellent but expensive (Rp1 thousand for complete food per person).

Fukuten (Plaza Senayan Arcadia ; Tel: +62-21 5790 1271): Stylish eating position concentrating in Kushiyaki and Katsu. A bit too costly.

Goemon (Wisma Kyoei Royal prince L. 3 ; Tel: +62-21 572 3343): Genuine Western eating position, not too costly, among the best value for cash in Jakarta. Well-liked by Western expats for food.

Gyu-Kaku (Pacific Place ; Tel: +62-21 5140 0617, Plaza Philippines ; Tel: +62-21 3107 196): Identical with Toranomon, well-designed, upmarket Western BBQ eating position. Top excellent meat, around Rp500,000 per individual if you go for the barbeque barbecue.

Hachi Hachi Cafe (Taman Anggrek ; Tel: +62-21 5699 9527): Inexpensive combination sushi. Purist will not like it, but it is swarmed with Indonesians. Also in Major Recreation area (Tel: +62-21 5698 5592).

Hakata Ikkousha (Rumah Bahagia Pertama, Jl. Muara Karang Raya 85 ; Tel: +62-21 6660 0255): Ringing Western eating position offering what some individuals consider the best ramen in Jakarta. So loaded you may have to delay before sitting, it is rather cheap (gyoza for 35k, chicken ramen for 38k) and primary (you sit next to other customers).

Hanamasa (locations all over Jakarta): Maybe the most well-known all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu/yakiniku eating position in Jakarta. Less than Rp100k. Average excellent, especially the meat, but value it for most clients.

Hanei (Grand Philippines ; Tel: +62-21 2358 0535, Senayan Town ; Tel: +62-21 7278 1395, Pondok Indah ; Tel: +62-21 7592 0890): Rather cost-effective (around Rp70,000 per person) but the excellent is not constant. Specialties: Sushis, sashimis, shabu-shabu.

Honoka (Jalan Panglima Polim Raya, Ideal eating position for food, authentic meals with exciting set food list including Rp65,000 to Rp125,000.

HonZen (Intercontinental Resort MidPlaza, Jalan Sudirman ; Tel: +62-21 570 7796): Modern Western eating position, with Western Cooking. It has a sushi bar and a kushiage bar. Very fantastic, probably overlooked.

Ippachi (Plaza Senayan Arcadia ; Tel: +62-21 5790 1461): Awesome, authentic establishing and fantastic sushis/sashimis. Western chef. A bit expensive.

Ippeke Komachi (Mall Kelapa Gading 3 ; Tel: +62-21 4585 3722): A good Western cusine establishments for Northern Jakarta. Affordable list set 80k. Good takoyaki.

Joobu Sushi (Jl. Kelapa Gading Blvd, Blok WD2 No. 19 ; Tel: +62-21 450 8551): Sushi bar, started out by a combined Indo-American. Obtained combined opinions so far.

Kahyangan (Hotel Nikko ; Tel: +62-21 230-1122): Apparently the best shabu-shabu in Jakarta. Also the most costly. Great perspective and enchanting. See my evaluation on Jakarta100bars.

Kaihomaru (Jalan Melawai VI ; Tel: +62-21 739 8741): This authentic eating position has it all: fantastic environment, quality, display of the recipes. The only issue is the price: Anticipate to pay more than Rp300,000 per individual. In my Top 3 of the best Western cusine establishments in Jakarta. Also started out in Pondok Indah.

Kamogawa (Pavilion House Store Video, Jl. K.H. Mas Mansyur Kav. 24 ; Tel: +62-21 574 1988): Enhanced eating position offering fantastic sushi, tempura, gyoza, udon, shabu-shabu. All-you-can-eat on saturdays and sundays for Rp200k++.

Katsura (Plaza Senayan ; Tel: +62-21 5772 5226): Stylish design, it provides teppanyaki, shabu-shabu, sukiyaki. Affordable set list for food (under Rp100k).

Kawana Sushi (Jl. Melawai IX no. 18, Blok M ; Tel: +62-21 722 0291/8842): Expensive sushi eating position. Held by a Western, their species of fish is brought in from Japan every 2-3 periods. Genuine.

Keyaki (Hotel Sari Pan Hawaiian, Thamrin, Tel: +62-21 2993 2752): Their sushi is required. You have an all-you-can-eat meals for Rp180k/pers eliminating tax. Also available: Robatayaki, Sukiyaki, Teppanyaki.

Kihana (Plaza Philippines ; Tel: +62-21 310 7596): Same operator as Kiyadon. More costly than better cusine establishments, but still decent flavor with nice environment and assistance. Suggested for sushis.

Kikugawa (Jl. Cikini Raya IV No. 13, Menteng +62 21 3150668): Old-time preferred Western eating position in Jakarta, but now regular as opposed to best ones in it is.

Kinokawa (Menara Thamrin, Jalan Thamrin ; Tel: +62-21 315 8877): One of the best Western cusine establishments in Jakarta, it provides the best sushis and the best omakase (up to Rp1,5 thousand per person). The chef Tate-san eventually left this year for Tatemukai though so I don't know if the excellent is still the same. Booking necessary, it is better to examine out on Wednesday and Exclusive, when the brought in species of fish gets there from Japan.

Kira-Kira Ginza (Jl. Melawai IX No. 30 ; Tel: +62-21 726 2611): Focuses on katsudon (katsu with chicken, unusual in jakarta). Also fantastic takoyaki, gyoza and okonomiyak. Value, around Rp80k per individual.

Kirishima (Gran Melia, Kuningan ; +62-21 526 8080): Teppanyaki, decent and not too costly when in comparison to other Western cusine establishments in 5-star accommodations (not to be together with Kirishima Cooking area, less expensive, in Pondok Indah)

Kiyadon (Usually in high-end malls): Rather costly, just like Sushi Tei (rp100k/pers). Good tempura. Even greater option of sushi (fusion and traditional) in some offices known as Kiyadon Sushi.

Konoha (Melawai 2 ; Tel: +62-21 720 6906): Genuine, fantastic yakitori, affordable

Kushigin (Melawai IX No.10F ; Tel: +62-21 723 4289): Izakaya with fantastic value yakitori and ramen.

Le'zzzaat (Permata Economical institution Structure, Jalan Sudirman ; Tel: 021-250-0528): Japanese-Italian eating position.

Marufuku (Jl. Melawai 6 no. 11, Blok M ; Tel: +62-21 726 7777): Affordable eating position run by a Western. Rather primary but fantastic meals, in particular the shabu-shabu and sushi.

Marutama Ramen (Sentral Senayan 1 ; +62-21 572 4050, eX Plaza Philippines ; Tel: +62-21 316 0705, Pluit ; Tel: +62-21 669 1199, Puri Indah Shopping center ; Tel: +62-21 582 3193): String concentrating in ramen and nabe. Good assistance and meals, but Ramen 38 may be a little better.

Midori (Kebayoran Baru ; Tel: +62-21 726 7249, Pondok Indah ; Tel: +62-21 769 2737, Kelapa Gading ; Tel: +62-21 451 3920, Puri Kencana ; +62-21 582-6855, Jl. Wahid Hasyim ; +62-21 314 8957). Genuine and unassuming, fantastic value-for-money. Suggested Sushis.

Misticanza (Sahid Sudirman Residance, Jalan Sudirman 86 ; Tel: +62-21 2902 2837): French meals à la Japonaise, similar with Le'zzzaat.

Miyama (Hotel Borobudur ; Tel: +62-21 380 5555): Modern Western meals with Western chef. Affordable for a excellent cusine eating position.

Nippon Kan (Sultan Resort, ex-Hilton ; Tel: +62-21 570 3600). Wonderful design but not reputed.

Nishimura (Shangri-La Resort ; Tel: +62-21 3048 8565) Changes Nadaman. Fine cusine Western, concentrating in planning with Wagyu Beef (Teppanyaki/Shabu-Shabu). Expensive to evening food, cost effective for food (with set list and a non-alcoholic consume, less than Rp200k).

Ootoya (Senayan Town, 5th ground ; Tel: +62-21 7278 1552, Hawaiian Place Shopping center 5th ground ; Tel: +62-21 5797 3858, Plaza Philippines ; +62-21 3983 8252). Enormous cycle of household eating position, initially from Japan. Best for Donburi (rice meal bowl). Rather excellent and balanced. Set list for food for around Rp80k++.

Origami (Nikko Resort, Jalan Thamrin ; Tel: +62-21 230 1122): Clean sushis and sashimis. All-you-can-eat at Rp250,000 . The chef is Western chef.

Poke Sushi (Crowne Plaza Resort, Jalan Gatot Subroto ; +62-21 522 0733): Reasonably cost excellent sushis, all-you-can-eat for under Rp150k (also placed in Dharmawangsa Square). Check their myspace here as well.

RA Sushi: (Bellagio Store Shopping center, Super Kuningan ; Tel: +62-21 3002 9970): Creative, combination sushis in today's establishing. Relatively costly.

Ramen 38 Sanpachi (Main division in Kamome Bldg, 2nd Floor, Jl. Melawai Raya 189B ; Tel: +62-21 7280 0268): Originally from Japan, it is a innovator cycle of Western noodle in Jakarta (Ramen). Good and cost-effective (less than Rp50k net). Well-known for its hot jigoku ramen.

Rakuzen (Pacific Place, +62-21 5140 0499): All-you-can-eat at Rp188,000++, nice environment and design. The chef is Western and so is the species of fish (imported). Rakuzen is aspect of a cycle with offices in SGP and KL. Pricey.

Sakana (MidPlaza Underground room Floor, Jl Jend Sudirman ; Tel: +62-21 570 6200): Izakaya offering one of the best takoyaki in Jakarta. Genuine and cost-effective. Good sushis too.

Sakura (Graha Niaga, Economical Club Jakarta Sudirman ; Tel: +62-21 5296 0070, Lebak Bulus ; +62-21 751 1193, and Sakura Cikampek ; +62 264 350665). Provides meals, bento lunchbox, sushi bar. Great ramen too.

Sekai (Jalan Suryo 30, Senopati, Tel: +62-21 7278 8750 ): Inexpensive all-you-can-eat sushis or shabu-shabu (Rp125k net). You get what you pay for.

Sekitei (Dharmawangsa Resort ; Tel: +62-21 725 8181): Among the top Western cusine establishments in Jakarta: Ideal assistance, perfect meals and environment. Dining could price you around 1 thousand, but you can get much better promotions if you come for food (set food list Rp100,000). Serves sushi, sashimi, shabu-shabu, sukiyaki among others.

Shabu Nobu (Dharmawangsa rectangle ; Tel: +62-21 7278 6650, Plaza Philippines ; Tel +62-21 310 7710, Kemang Raya no17 ; Tel: +62-21 719 5246, The Bellezza Permata Hijau ; Tel: +62-21 2567 5874): Associated with Sushi Nobu, around Rp100k for shabu-shabu (more or less with regards to the kind your order). Average flavor.

Shabu Tei (Various places in Jakarta, usually middle-class malls): Affordable shabu-shabu and sukiyaki. Not fantastic but decent considering the price (less than Rp100,000).

Shabuya (Central Recreation area Shopping center ; Tel: +62-21 5698 5585): Shabu-Shabu/Sukiyaki, with all-you-can-eat at Rp115++ (with Angus beef). Good but the costs should go up.

Shima (Aryaduta hotel ; Tel: +62 21 2352 1234): Old eating position, decent teppanyaki, not too costly.

Sumibian (In two places, Mangga Dua Square (Tel. (62-21) 6231 0002), and Pursuit Plaza (Tel : +62-21 2512888 the best one, with fantastic view): Genuine Western BBQ or Yakiniku): Best in Jakarta for authentic Western BBQ (Yakiniku). . Expensive, Rp400,000 per pers, all you can eat Rp700,000

Sumire (Grand Hyatt, Plaza Philippines, Tel: +62-21 390 1234): Very, very costly, in the top 3 of the best Western cusine establishments in Jakarta, teppanyaki at Rp1,5 thousand per individual .

Sumiya ( STC Senayan ; Tel: +62-21 5793 1826): Izakaya offering delightful, authentic Western meals. Excellent value-for-money (normal spend: Rp100,000). Popular especially after perform, pub-like environment. Must-try eating position.

Sushi Nobu (Dharmawangsa rectangle and other place ; Tel: +62-21 7278 6650): More costly than regular, combination sushi.

Sushi Sei (Plaza Senayan ; Tel: +62-21 572 5510): Excellent sushis and sashimis, but not fantastic value, at least Rp200,000k. If you are cheaply you will see cheaper choices with the exact same flavor.

Sushi Tei: (All over Jakarta): A little bit overrated (surprisingly, it is the best Western eating position in Jakarta on TripAdvisor), Sushi Tei has a fantastic promotion group, but the sushis are not awesome, nor authentic. It continues to be a decent place, in particular for the assistance and environment.

Sushi Tengoku (Jl. Stations Dalam Raya ; Tel: +62-21 739 6940): Good, conventional sushi at inexpensive price points.

Taichan (Plaza Senayan ; Tel: +62-21 572 5262, Jl. Melawai VI/No.5 Blok M ; Tel: +62-21 726 1281 (Izakaya Taichan)): 20 years-old, authentic eating position. Suggested for its Endurance Ramen (Rp50,000).

Takemori (Senayan Town (Sencity), 5th Floor ; Tel: +62-21 7278 1177): Mid-range shabu-shabu and barbeque barbecue eating position with decent meals. Meat brought in from Sydney. Around Rp150,000 to Rp200,000 per individual, which is quite costly. Also in Lavish Philippines (Tel: +62-21 2358 0368)

Tarakagima (Menteng ; Tel: +62-21 316 0359, Kelapa Gading ; Tel: +62-21 3281 7866): Formerly known as Sumo Sushi. Inexpensive sushi eating position with few days all-you-can-eat for Rp 120k++.

Tatemukai (Grand Philippines, Eastern Shopping center 3A ; Tel: +62-21 2358 1807): Booking only, awesome cusine encounter, at least Rp1 thousand (but probably more) for Omakase . By famous Cooking Tate-san

Toranomon (Grand Philippines ; Tel: +62-21 2358 0061): Franchised from Japan (though I could look for the primary division in Japan on Google), it is an expert in Yakiniku (Japanese BBQ). Upmarket environment, nice perspective on Resort Philippines Oblique, but expensive (Rp500,000 for complete meal). Check out reductions with some credit score charge playing cards.

Torikatsu (Jalan Melawai 9 ; Tel: +62-21 723 0159): Genuine, is an expert in yakitori.

Tsukinofune (Hotel Ambhara, Jl. Iskandarsyah Raya ; Tel: +62-21 270 0709): Expensive, but must-try sushi and sashimi. Well-presented Bento at Rp160k. Top Western eating position in Jakarta.

Umena Dori (Plaza Senayan ; Tel: +62-21-5793 9710): People examine out this eating position for its "satay" (yakitori and Kushiyaki). More costly than regular, around Rp150,000 per individual.

Yakoya (Menteng, Jalan Imam Bonjol ; Tel: +62-21 391 6337): Affordable shabu-shabu with all-you-can-eat at Rp150,000 net. Identical to Paregu/Hanamasa, maybe slightly better with regards to flavor and environment.

Zhuma Western (Crystal Lagoon, Senayan Town ; Tel: +62-21 727 81 237): Fashionable eating position, with combination sushi, (too) costly.

I'm still losing a few, namely ShioSai, Ryoutei Aoi, Paregu, Senryo, etc... I'll add them in the following periods (or weeks)..
